I have focused on studying writing for ten years. At the age of thirteen, I moved away from home to study Creative Writing at Interlochen Arts Academy. I had the opportunity to study under instructors such as Francine J. Harris, Adam Atkinson, & The Dark Noise Collective. I was also constantly inspired by our visiting writers series featuring authors such as Terrance Hayes, Megan Stielstra, & Tyehimba Jess.

The poetry I write is greatly influenced by authors like CA Conrad, Kazim Ali, & Lillian-Yvonne Bertram. I create work that is queer & fantastical as it explores a world steeped in bloodshed but constantly in rebirth. I create poetry that interrogates the world it interacts with & challenges its reader, asking them to be perverse in ways that shed light onto new ways of thinking.

The dramatic writing I do takes influence from New Queer Cinema, modernist works, Brian Fuller’s Hannibal, Austin Wisberg’s First Date, & Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Love Never Dies. I want to use scriptwriting to explore the web of relationships people have with one another & how our culture impacts them. I’m interested in heavy color stylization contrasted with present-day people.

Overall, I like to say I’m working with monsters. People are monsters. Poems are monsters. Scripts are monsters. But does being a monster make one undeserving of love? That’s the question I write towards. I don’t think I’ll ever be done answering that.
